As the category says, I have nothing better to do other than make an entry in my
diary about Mr Drew Carey.
I really don't know why I'm doing this. Well, I do, because I've been reading about
how he's taking over from Bob (Regis?) and will soon be hosting The Price Is Right in
America. For me, being British, this is a little weird as The Price Is Right got
cancelled years ago over here but hey, it will be good to see Drew out and about
again. He also has a new game show of his very own starting up in the States called
The Power of 10. Sounds fancyful doesn't it? I've read the concept/premise for The
Power of 10, sounds very similar to a show that I can't exactly think of right now.
If you want more info on either, go to a search engine and find your own stuff, I
can't be bothered to pull information and stick it in here.
But aside from new work, I have recently developed an interest in Drew thanks to my
ever growing obsession with Whose Line Is It Anyway?. Just reading up on his life
made me feel very sympathetic towards him, and honestly quite pleased that he has
turned out the way he has given his past. You see, from what I've read, it turns out
his Dad died of cancer at 8, and was later (no ages linked from what I know) molested
by a member of his family. Yet, the Drew we see is funny, articulate (occasionally),
passionate, empathetic (usually) and well-meaning. Let's not forget he was in the
Marines too, for a while, which you might think would suck the humour out of someone
(hey, I'm just going from what I think here; I could be wrong), but no: Drew still
clearly has an excellent sense of humour, as anyone who has seen Drew reduced to
hysterics on Whose Line will attest.
Also, I've come to find him attractive. Yeah yeah, say what you want, but I do! He
has charisma, and charm, which I personally feel can cause anyone to over look how
'ugly' another is. Drew isn't even that bad looking!! Sure, he might be over-weight a
little, but screw that! Sometimes a passion for life and for what you hold dear is
the only thing that matters: to me, that encompasses Drew - maybe that is a little
harder to understand but that is how it works with me.
I'll also point anyone who cares over to Drew's myspace page, and be sure to read his
entry called 'Schadenfeude' - very well observed.
