My first entry. Because I can.
Yesterday, July 5, my sister and I saved our dog from wandering the streets and
It all started when my mom came home, saying that we should go out and buy our
uniforms. Needless to say, I didn't want to go. However, being that she was our mom,
my sisters and I went to the van to go to good ol' Wal-Mart.
But we had an extra guest coming along for the ride. It was our house dog, Lucky
(we're not creative in terms of naming). Confused, I asked Mom if the dog was allowed
in the store. Her answer shocked us.
She was going to abandon our black Labrador on our last street! The street, which is
partially uninhabited (some trailers are still there) because of Hurricane Katrina,
is where we would be stranding him in?
Dear gawd, he won't survive!
As we drove to the street, I could sense my sisters and I being fearful of letting
him go. He was a smart dog, but because he was rather large, my mom didn't want to
I had to hold back a tear when the van door swung open to let him out.
Saddened, I stayed at home instead of going to Wal-Mart with the rest of my siblings.
Mom was upset and left scolding my actions.
My older sister, who didn't need to go school shopping, found out about my Mom's
decision to let the dog go. So she and I went back to the street against her wishes.
It didn't matter, though; Lucky was a smart dog and we found him trying to get home.
Feeling proud and accomplished, our euphoria sent us swiftly home, but Lucky jumped
out of the car when we reached our destination. He ran around the neighborhood and I
had to catch him.
It was a damper in my mood, but at least our pet's back.
Mom better not pull that shit again. I swear, this is not the first time that our
pets almost died/ had died inhumanely.
