Path Not Taken
The coffin being laid to rest...Did you really take the corner that hard? Surely you
knew the road sloped there...What if I'd gone with you? Would I have convinced you to
take it slower? Now all I can do is throw a rose of the lid of your coffin, and pray
I can continue without my brother. But as I walk away, your body trapped by metal and
wood and dirt whilst people keep telling me everything will be okay I can't help but
think about the road not taken - would it have led me down to the depths with you, or
would you have remained in sunlight with me...?
Curled up, my head resting on Adam's chest with my hands playing idly with the hem of
his t-shirt, I feel myself beginning to drift into sleep. He chuckles softly and I
turn my head to look at the American. "What?" He smiles warmly up at me, red hair
striking a contrast with the green grass we lay on. "You'll sleep anywhere!" I smirk
and crawl further up, laying my head by his so I whisper into his ear. "I'm not the
one who kept falling asleep in the car whilst I was meant to give directions."
Another soft chuckle, and he turns his head to look directly at me. "Sorry." He leans
in and pecks the tip of my nose before wrapping an arm tightly around me as we both
begin to doze in the sunlight.
Oh you, who reside in moonlight! You soft voice trembles in the night, luring me
deeper into madness. Oh you, who never sees the beauty of dawn! You claim my spirit
with the softest of melodious words. Oh you, sweet daughter of the vile night! You
entice me further, so that I might soon see my end. Oh you, a twisted vampyre born!
You may take my body for at last I am home.
