My new story... inspired by Break Away by Kelly Clarkson. The main character's name
(Kai) is pronounced with the k sound and then say the letter i. So like ki. Enjoy~
The bright flowers and warm grass enveloped Kai in a sweet aroma as she lay on the
ground writing poems in her journal. The sun smiled upon her, basking her in warmth.
A cool breeze blew her straight, brown hair. Her blue eyes sparkled in the light. Her
dainty bare feet were warm against the cool earth. She was writing a poem in
Sun and Sky
Dance with the wind
Among the daisies
Where Kai lay asleep
In the warm summer's day.
It had no rhyme, but those were the best poems in Kai's opinion. They danced to
their own song, like Kai, a strongwilled, independent young girl. She liked going her
own way, instead of being told by others what to do.
Kai lived with her mother and father in a village called Sorret. They owned the
Sorret Mill. Her father milled the local farmer's grain for copper, silver, or golden
pieces. They used the money earned to pay for daily living expenses. Sometimes Kai
got pocket money to spend at her liking. Kai usually got books.
In Sorret it was considered pointless to educate women, for the were to be married
off to raise families. Women had no time for such foolish things. But Kai's parents
thought otherwise. Her father taught her reading, math, calligraphy, and poetry at a
young age. Despite their unusual belief, Kai's family were well respected throughout
"Kai, get your head out of the clouds and get to your chores!" called her mother
from the house. "Yes mother." Kai replied obediently. She headed to the barn, picking
up her journal and gently tucking it in her shirt. The barn was her favorite place on
the farm, aside from the meadow. The barn held their two horses, Winter and Summer,
their milk cow, Mabel, and their chickens. Kai fed them and mucked the stalls. The
chickens swarmed to eat the grain she had given them as if they hadn't eaten in
weeks. She changed their water and dumped the old water outside. She swept the floor
and gave them fresh hay. As she was going out the barn to do her household chores,
she heard a scream. ~
Haha, I stopped when it was getting interesting. Don't worry, I have more, and will
post it if I get good reviews from the critics (That means you.).
