Monica sighed as she got out of her parents Mercades. She shivered, not used to the
brisk weather. Back at home, warm sunny Florida, her friends were probably hitting
the beach and sun bathing. Why did her parents have to move? Her parents would have
anwered "to get you to be a more well rounded person", but Monica knew better. The
only reason they moved was for her dad's job, so he could be one of the great
cardiologists at Massachusetts General Hospital.
"Bye Mom" Monica said hugging her Mom "Mom, are you crying?" Monica asked,
"No, it's my new mascara" Beatrice lied.
Right, Monica thought.
"Bye Daddy" Monica hugged her father.
"Bye sweetie" he said giving her a kiss on the head. "Promise to e-mail right?"
"Yup" Monica said and checked her cell phone "I gotta go" she kissed her parents
goodbye and headed up the cold granite steps.
Inside there was a whole bunch of students. Girls were hugging and squealing and
swapping stories while boys were talking about the latest Red Sox game. She sighed
and swung her backpack over one shoulder and trudged through the swarm or teenagers.
She looked at the new student sheet and walked toward the auditorium.
About 10 feet away from the door, a group of incredibly cute, incredibly popular
guys pushed some guy in front of her. She stoped right before she fell flat on her
face. The guys looked disapointed and tured away. The boy on the ground got up pretty
quickly and looked around while dusting his shirt. He jumped when he saw Monica.
"Oh, hey" He said trying to sound cool.
"Hi, are you alright?" Monica asked.
The guy turned pink but drained his face of the color really quickly as if he was a
master of being embarrased. This gave Monica time to look at him. He was kinda cute
but tried way to hard.
"I'm Fine, and I'm Billy by the way" His voiced cracking slightly.
"I'm Monica and I gotta go, sorry" She said kindly and walked into the auditorium,
not realizing Billy was staring at her.
