I'm reading a book about women because I've been really trying to understanding how
genders even work. And it says that all women crave romance and it lists examples of
classic romance stories and couples. And I feel completely indifferent about all
that. I don't want to be rescued. I'd be embarrassed if my man showed up and I hadn't
already defeated the bad guy. But... I do have ideas of what I find romantic, so I'm
going to write about that.
Here's what I find romantic:
I have to like the sound of a guy's voice to be attracted to him. And I love the idea
of him reading me stories or poems. And pronouncing every word correctly, that's
My idea of a romantic love story is this: There is no one around for miles and miles,
it's just me and him. We explore forests, caves, castles, cemeteries, rivers, roads.
It is only he and I, we are all we need. We protect each other, we survive together,
discover together, we play together. We build our house in the forest together. We
live there forever, alone and in love.
