Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young prince lived in a shining castle.
Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was spoiled, selfish, and
unkind. But then, one winter's night, an old beggar woman came to the castle and
offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her
haggard appearance, the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away, but
she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within. And
when he dismissed her again, the old woman's ugliness melted away to reveal a
beautiful enchantress. The prince tried to apologize, but it was too late, for she
had seen that there was no love in his heart, and as punishment, she transformed him
into a hideous beast, and placed a powerful spell on the castle, and all who lived
there. Ashamed of his monstrous form, the beast concealed himself inside his castle,
with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world. The rose she had offered
was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom until his twenty-first year. If he
could learn to love another, and earn her love in return by the time the last petal
fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast
for all time. As the years passed, he fell into despair, and lost all hope, for who
could ever learn to love a beast?
Xaveria walked out of her house, a basket swinging from her arm. She crossed over the
bridge, and began her walk into town.
As she entered town, the villagers were all busily going around the town. Xaveria
made her way to the Library, her favourite place in the Town.
"Good Morning. I've come to return the book I borrowed" Xaveria spoke as soon as she
got into the Library.
"Finished already?" the bookseller asked, taking the book and placing it back on the
"I couldn't put it down! Have you got anything new?" she asked.
"Not since yesterday!" the bookseller laughed.
"That's all right. I'll borrow... This one!" she said, looking for a book and then
taking one off the shelf.
"That one? But you've read it twice!" the bookseller laughed.
"Well, it's my favourite. Far off places, daring sword fights, magic spells, a prince
in disguise!" Xaveria answered him, happily.
"Well, if you like it all that much, it's yours" the bookseller told Xaveria.
"I insist!" he answered.
"Well thankyou... thankyou very much!" Xaveria thanked him, leaving the shop.
Not far away in the town, geese were flying over head. Suddenly, one fell out of the
sky, after being shot. Saix was waiting for the goose to fall, holding out a bag for
it to fall into. He missed the catch, as the goose landed at his feet. Quickly, Saix
bent down and shoved the goose in the bag. He then ran up to Xemnas happily.
"Wow! You didn't miss a shot, Xemnas! You're the greatest hunter in the whole world!"
"I know" Xemnas replied.
"No beast alive stands a chance against you...and no girl for that matter!" Saix
"It's true, Saix, and I've got my sights set on that one" he said, pointing over at
"The Inventors Daughter..?!?" Saix asked in shock.
"She's the one. The lucky girl I'm going to marry!" Xemnas announced.
"The most beautiful girl in town"
"And that makes her the best! And don't I deserve the best?" Xemnas asked Saix,
Xaveria was making her way through town, heading back to her house, reading her book.
Xemnas was trying to keep up with her, but there were too many people out on the
town's roads, blocking his way.
Eventually he was able to make his way up to Xaveria.
"Bonjour Xaveria" he greeted her as soon as he caught up to her.
"Bonjour Xemnas.." she answered, not taking her eyes away from her book.
Xemnas then took the book away from her and started flicking through the pages.
"Xemnas, may I have my book please?" she asked him, getting annoyed.
"How can you read this? There's no pictures!" Xemnas asked Xaveria.
"Well, some people use their imaginations" Xaveria told him.
"Xaveria, it's time you got your head out of those books and paid attention to more
important things... like me!" he told her, throwing the book in a puddle of mud.
Xandra, Xahras, and Brix all sighed in sync, as Xaveria rose an eyebrow at them and
looked around at her book in the puddle. She bent down and picked it up out of the
"It's not right for a woman to read. Soon she starts getting ideas... and
thinking..!" Xemnas told Xaveria.
"Xemnas, you are positively primeval" Xaveria told him.
"Why thank you, Xaveria. Hey, whaddya say you and me take a walk over to the tavern
and have a look at my hunting trophies." he asked her.
"Mayby some other time..." she mumbled.
"What's wrong with her?" "She's crazy!" "He's gorgeous!" Xandra, Xahras, and Brix all
"Please Xemnas, I can't. I have to get home to help my Father.
"That crazy old loon, he needs all the help he can get!" Saix laughed, joined in by
"Don't you talk about my Father that way!" Xaveria told Saix.
"Y-Yeah, don't talk about her Father that way!" Xemnas stopped laughing and hit Saix
over the head with his fist.
"My Father's not crazy. He's a genius!" Xaveria told them.
A large explosion took place in her house, which made Xaveria run off towards her
house, leaving Saix and Xemnas laughing again.
She got up to her house and opened the door that lead into the basement. A ton of
smoke escaped the basement.
"Papa?" Xaveria called into the basement, as she walked down the steps.
"How on earth did that happen?" Vexen mumbled to himself.
"Are you ok, Papa?" Xaveria asked her Father.
"I'm about to give up on this hunk of junk..!" Vexen told Xaveria, kicking the
machine he had made.
"You always say that" Xaveria laughed.
"I mean it this time! I'll never get this boneheaded contraption to work!" Vexen said
"Yes you will, and you'll win first prize tomorrow at the fair. And, you'll become a
world famous inventor!" Xaveria told Vexen.
"You really believe that..?" he asked Xaveria.
"I always have" she smiled.
"Well then, what are we waiting for? Hand me the dog-legged clencher there" he told
Xaveria, sliding underneath the machine.
"So, did you have a good time in town today?" he asked her.
"I got a new book..." Xaveria smiled, picking up the tool and walking over to Vexen.
"Papa.. do you think I'm odd?" she asked him.
"My Daughter? Odd? Where would you get an idea like that?" he asked her, appearing
from under the machine.
"Oh, I don't know... It's just that I'm not sure I fit in here... There's no one I
can really talk to..." she told her Father, handing him the tool.
"What about that Xemnas? He's a handsome fellow!" Vexen asked Xaveria.
"He's handsome all right, and rude and conceited and...Oh Papa, he's not for me!"
Xaveria told him.
"Well, don't you worry. This invention is going to be the start of a new life for
us!" Vexen ssaid, coming out from under the machine.
