I miss the simpler days. The days were the only problem was Emma and I not knowing
if we wanted to go on a bike ride or go explore in her yard and the only major
conflict was having a flat tire on our bikes. And boys, well we didn’t worry about
them giving us coodies, but we weren’t worry about them giving us broken hearts
like we are now. Nothing could hurt us, we were invincible, and anything was
possible. We could always find something to do, to think of it I don’t ever
remember a dull moment. Some of my best memories are just doing the most pointless
and stupid things, whether it was watching our friend pour chocolate milk on her head
at lunch, pouring soda on snow volcano’s in winter, running from ferocious snakes
during summer, or chasing butterfly’s early one spring morning and getting stung
by a bee, but I guess that’s why they’re the most memorable. But I think the best
part was being carefree and what you could call a believer. We didn’t worry about
how we looked, as long as we had clothes on we didn’t really care. We didn’t care
what people thought about us, the only opinion that counted was each others and I
still don’t think we really would have gave a damn. There was no ‘searching for
ourselves‘, we knew who we were and we were comfortable with it. Unlike now were
everything we do is being judged constantly and we can’t make one mistake without
being ridiculed and being different, yeah right, that’s totally out of the picture
unless you want to be shunned from the world that thinks whatever is “different”
isn’t right. There were no expectations to live up to, which was good for us. We
weren’t the girlest of girls and we were both forced to grow up fast but we were
still naive. We knew about fairy tale endings, where your prince would save you ,
you’d fall in love and live happily ever after, rather than in real life were you
have to go though a million frogs to find your prince. We both knew about reality but
chose to live in our own world, it just seemed safer.
