On August 14, 2014, members of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Internet Crimes
Against Children Task Force arrested 43 year old Eduardo Leaton, a convicted sex
offender, for violating the conditions of his supervised release. Leaton, a former
attorney, was originally arrested on August 17, 2010, for arranging a meeting with a
minor for sex, and for possessing and distributing child pornography. The subsequent
investigation lead to the identification of five additional minors on Kupika.com who
were sexually exploited by Leaton.
After being convicted and serving a portion of his sentence, Leaton was given
supervised release conditions and was released from incarceration. Leaton, however,
was again arrested on November 20, 2013, for violating the conditions of his
supervised release by contacting a former victim via the Internet.
Leaton most recently violated the conditions of his probation by accessing Kupika,
using the name, "Phantom."
Anyone with information concerning possible victims or witnesses is encouraged to
contact Detective Schlund.
