When I get older...
When I get paid...
When summer comes...
When its the weekend...
When I have more time...
The future is today. Why not now?
More recent is our generation of entitlement. I want it now and I'll pay later.
Matthew 6:25-27 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will
eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and
the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or
store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more
valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"
Matthew 6:19-21 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and
vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not
break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
James 4:2-3 "You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get
what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.
When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may
spend what you get on your pleasures. "
Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by
prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. "
James 4:14 "What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and
I of all people can tell you it is hard, and I want to say nearly impossible, for us
not to worry. The more we seek God's wisdom, and yes it is hard to force ourselves
to open His book, but it does hold freedom. That's one of the reasons I know the
bible is truth, because even now it gives me the same feeling as homework and I don't
want to open it now but later. To me this affirms that it is the right thing to do,
because it is oddly difficult.
