We glorify God by pleasing Him.

Hebrews 11:6 reads "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because
anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who
earnestly seek him. "

There are some rather basic and general things we are to do which please God.

1. Be honest. (Keep our word and keep our promises)

2. Learn. (Continue to seek growth)
Colossians 3:9-10 "Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old
self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in
knowledge in the image of its Creator."

3. Control your body. (It is exactly as it sounds)
1 Thessalonians 4:1-5 "As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we
instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we
ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. For you know what
instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. It is God’s will
that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of
you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in
passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God"
This means to avoid not just sex but other sexual acts, and to avoid putting yourself
into situations which you are likely to be tempted. I know when we want something we
tend to justify it no matter what, and if we can't justify it then we simply do it
anyway because we want to. It is hard. Very hard. But we need to trust that
being moral has greater benefits than being immoral.
4. Renew your mind.
Romans 12:1-2 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of
God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to
God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this
world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test
and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
