Day 10 - Favorite slice of life Anime
It took a while to think about this one, seeing as most of the anime and mangas I'm
into are quite fantastical or the furthest thing from every day as you could get. I
was gonna go with HOTD, but I guess zombies aren't too realistic. Nor are the talking
animals from fruits Basket.
So, I give you a very beautiful, "slice of life" anime - Paradise Kiss.
So, I'm not usually very keen on shoujo, but this series is gritty and hard hitting -
the story focuses around Yukari (Caroline), who is studying for the high school
entrance exams, but meets the fashion students from Yakuza Arts - and she is opened
up to a whole new world of freedom.
It's one of the few realistic series I follow, but it's something special, that's for
sure. The characters are incredibly believable, though what's more worrying is that
it's easily relateable to my own life. Should that be worrying?
The music is also beautiful, might I add - the unknown Japanese band "The Baby's"
features on the sound track, and Arashi sings one of their songs towards the end of
the series - it's spine tinglingly gorgeous.
