“We’re moving?!” Jim Barkers screamed. Her parents were very calm. “Yes,
your mother got a job in Austin, and we hope to make a new life there,” her father
said. “What? How could you do this to me? I already endured being the new girl once
and that went along with being laughed at for my boy name! And that was just a month
ago!! Why do we have to move again?? This is the 8th time! Don’t think I haven’t
counted! Everthing that has happened in my life is YOUR FAULT!!” Jim was crying
now. But before her parents could comfort her, she ran up the stairs and slammed her
Jim’s parents soon after came in her room to find her missing! They searched
the whole house to find but a note, reading:
I’m running away! Families stink! Don’t bother trying to
find me because I won’t go back!

Jim’s mother was dialing 911 in a second. Her father was already out calling
her name in the cold, dark night. They looked and looked with the police, but never
found a trace. This was going on for days, even weeks, but nothing was found. They
had her face on milk cartons and newspapers, but hope was soon lost. Their only
daughter was pronounced dead.
