Vladimir and I were still for a long time. We both smiled slightly. I hugged him.
"Vladimir, how long have you wanted to tell me this?" I whispered to him.
He lightly kissed me again. "A long time, Flor. You don't even know how long the
angels have been down in Hell. I've... wanted to express it for at least a year..."
He leaned back, allowing me to sit up and to be held in his arms. "I love you, Flor
I smiled. "I love you, too, Vladimir."
Vladimir held me in his arms for what seemed like eternity. I would have let him
hold me that long if the wind didn't pick up.
"What the Hell?" growled Vladimir. "What's up with the wind?"
I laughed. Vladimir got up and pulled me over behind a tree. The wind just kept
howling. We stood there for a while until the wind calmed. When it finally did, my
chain and key began burning under my dress. "What the --?"
I froze. Demons. All around us. Around seven or eight. Possibly ten, but no more
than that. "Vladimir..."
"I sense them too, Flor."
Then I saw them. There were eight, at least that I could see. Then another
stepped through. His vibrant blue hair flashed in the moonlight. Vladimir stepped in
front of me and growled. The demon with the blue hair moved his hand in a quick,
drawing motion, and the eight demons around him her their swords and pointed them
inward. "Hello Flor," he said. He turned his head to Vladimir. "Angel."
"Shayne" I mumbled. "Don't tell me Cletus sent you, now?"
Shayne sniffed. "Flor, you should know by now that Cletus won't stop at anything
until he finally gets you?"
Vladimir held his hand up. "Well, you can run back to him and tell him he isn't
getting her anytime soon, demon."
Shayne's demons stepped in, and I felt a sword poke me on the side. I whimpered
a bit, but I showed no signed of defeat. Neither did Vladimir. I brought myself
closer to Vladimir, and Shayne's expression darkened.
"You can't be saying... you... are in... LOVE WITH AN ANGEL, Flor!"
I blinked. So what if it was forbidden? Don't care. Never will.
"I don't really care, Shayne." I said wistfully. "It's about time the two
Shayne's expression grew fiery, and I shut up. He was going to make his demons
attack soon. The clock was ticking. Vladimir and I were probably done for. Not yet,
father... Please please please don't let them kill Vladimir...
Vladimir grabbed my by the waist and started climbing the tree behind us. Shayne
shot fire from his hand and the tree fell to the ground, crashing on both Vladimir
and I. Vladimir slipped out from under it, motioning for me to stay where I was. I
noticed I was hidden by branches, so it would hide me for a bit of time. I couldn't
have moved anyway, seeing my foot was stuck under the tree. Luckily, demonfire didn't
burn long unless willed to, so the tree didn't catch fire. I listened carefully to
Shayne and Vladimir.
"Listen, there isn't a need for this. Flor has a right to choose her own life,
let her be."
"Her father willed it, and his will won't be denied, even by his daughter,
Even if I didn't want to get up, I had to, because the tree was blown off me.
Yes, I said blown off. The wind was so strong now, trees were shaking, ready to fall
any second. Shayne was smiling. The other demons had disappeared, probably waiting
for us to run. I closed my eyes, waiting for the trees to fall, to crush Vladimir,
for me to go back to the place I didn't want to be...
But the wind suddenly died. Shayne's face grew with such anger I thought he may
burst into flame.
"You were just lucky." he hissed. "We've been called back to Hell. This isn't
the last of the times we'll come for her. And trust me, one will succeed."
With that, he faded and let Vladimir and I alone in a tattered clearing.
