Well I've decided to use this for my NaNoWriMo novel. Like? Dislike? Do think it'll
make it far enough to be a novel? Whatta bout the title? Yay? Nay?
Oh and for anyone who was wondering, my username is BrittaO. Pretty basic, huh?
Synopsis: Masked Illusions
After just attending her parents' tragic and unexpected funeral, Cheyenne Davenport
sets off for Colorado, where her aging great aunt lives. Everything seems fine at
first; she's laid claim to a good part of her family's inheritance, her best friend
has decided to forgive her for an horrible mishap that's haunted Cheyenne for what
feels like forever, and a seemingly perfect boy has moved in across the street from
her aunt's rather large manor.
However, things aren't always as they seem, which Cheyenne finds is more accurate
than ever on the abandoned street as she explores the ancient manor. Before she knows
it, her life is turned upside down by the unsolved mystery of the "Hospital Boy", a
former occupant of the house she now resides in.
So if not everything is as it seems, how will she unravel the truth without paying a
price that's too steep?
Excerpt: Masked Illusions
The shattering screams stopped. The beeping halted. Everything was silent compared to
the agonized shrieks, and the boy lay perfectly still. The machine was in millions of
pieces, and some part of me knew the suffering boy was gone. I looked down at him,
tears welling in my eyes, but my sight was to blurry to recognize his face, which now
hung limply off the side of the bed, completely uncovered. The masked boy was
suddenly by side, whispering in my ear.
“This is all your fault.”
And I knew he wasn’t talking about the beeping machine, but instead something much
bigger. He was right.
