It seems that we as a people have a distorted view of reality. We all live in this
little fairy tale dream world where nothing bad ever occurs. And when it does, we
obsess over it for a few days; a month or so at the most. Then we continue on with
our ignorant belief that nothing like that could ever possibly happen to us. We
ignore the ugly and the evil in the world, and focus only on our warped fantasies and
our own selfish desires for personal gratification.
Because nothing bad could ever happen to us, right?
What about those innocent young children in Connecticut? Whose lives had barely yet
begun? What about all the people in the Aurora, Colorado shooting over the summer?
They had simply wanted to go see the new Batman movie. May I remind you of Columbine?
Virginia Tech? Countless other school shootings? What about the one right here in
Stillwater, Oklahoma? An 8th grader committed suicide in the hallway. What about the
millions of murders committed in cold blood? Bodies slain, lives stolen. How about
kidnappings? Or the girl I went to school with who's been missing since October? Not
a sighting, not a tip, not a word. Just....gone.
Look around, guys. Bad shit is happening EVERYWHERE. Evil is all around you.
You're never as safe as you'd like to think you are.
