Here is a short story about my fairy:
With a flick of her wings, Bramble was off. She could hear the cool wind rushing
past her ears. She felt free and happy. Her chestnut-coloured hair rippled in the
wind. Then she saw it. The tree that was her home. Bramble slowed down and soon felt
the soft mud and twig floor beneath her feet. She rushed up to the tree and tapped it
three times. The vague line carved into the tree trunk opened and she began to step
inside. Suddenly she heard a rustling and a little cry in the bushes. Bramble turned
round. She couldn't see anything. Frowning, she turned back towards the tree and then
she heard the cry again. It was coming from the bush she was nearest too. Unsure of
what she was going to find, Bramble went over to the bush and parted the twigs and
leaves so she could see inside. There was a weaved basket made from twigs balancing
in the bush. A pink blanket covered what was inside, so she pulled it away and
gasped. Inside was a little human baby! The child was small, smaller than her, so she
picked it up and carried it inside her home. After closing the tree-trunk door,
Bramble lay the baby on a table and took of the note that was attatched to it. It
read: My name is Rose. I am a human baby, planted in this bush for some fairy to
find. If you look after me for just one week, good things will happen to you. Please
do, otherwise I will die... The rest of the note was ripped, and lost in the
bushes. Bramble picked up the baby. It was fast asleep, but naked. She got a blanket
and wrapped Rose inside, before putting her on the bed. Bramble got out her sewing
kit and some material, and made Rose a pink dress with a rose sewn on the chest. She
worked all through the night, sewing on beads and making little shoes and
accessories. When the morning sun shone through the window, Rose started crying.
Bramble rubbed her eyes, yawned and then rushed to the little baby. She lay naked as
the blanket had disappeared.
'What?' said Bramble to herself. 'Where's it gone?'
Rose sucked her thumb, then wet herself on Bramble's bed. Bramble gasped. She raised
her hand to smack the little baby, but then came to her senses. She thought to
herself, 'I'm a fairy. Smacking is the sort of thing humans do.' So she calmly picked
up the damp Rose and changed her, and put her into the newly-made outfit. Rose was
too young to appreciate all Bramble's hard work, but Bramble didn't mind. She cared
for Rose for the whole week, never losing her temper, even when Rose weed all over
Bramble's dress, she didn't smack her. It was annoying all right, but Bramble knew
Rose didn't know any better.
At the end of the week, Bramble walked in to find Rose had disappeared and in her
place was a note. Bramble picked it up and started to read. Thank you for looking
after me. Good things should happen soon, but sometimes some of the magic gets lost
and the spell doesn't work. Please don't get angry. You gave me my foundations, and I
thank you. I will never forget you.
Good things didn't happen to Bramble, but she didn't mind. She knew she had helped
Rose and all that work had paid off, although Rose had taken the little outfit with
her wherever she had gone. Bramble smiled everytime she thought about it, and she
told the story to everyone she knew. Hopefully, she thought, it will be a story to
