Alice adjusted her black scarf as she headed outside of her foster home.
Why the hell is it so cold? she thought to herself. With a frustrated look she
headed out of her house and into the freezing cold of winter to school. After a few
blocks she started to shiver. To make herself warmer she tried to think of something
happy. She began thinking of her mother and father and how they must have been. Since
she could remember, Alice has always thought of how her parents were even though she
never saw them. She could even recall the time when she always used to think that one
day her mother and father would come and scoop her in their arms and take away from
the foster home that she's used too.
That was long ago she reminded herself. Being reminded of that,
Alice began to feel the cold wind again. After a few minutes she came to her school
trying to warm up back her hands. Stupid season, stupid holiday she mumbled to
herself angrily. As she sat in her classroom, she looked at her classmates jealously,
Thinking of the families that they have. Screw them all she thought. At
least they don't have to live in a house cramped with children you hardly even
know. Alice huffed and opened up her notebook, writing her assignment on the
"Okay class" her teacher said as she walked in the classroom. "For your
assignment I want you guys to write a report on what you love about Christmas". Alice
grunted hearing the word "Christmas" and looked down at her notebook as if it was
going to say something. Alice began her assighment by writing, "I love that Christmas
has.." nah, too sappy she thought as she erased her words. She ban writing
again, "Christmas is so lovable because it has..." too crappy she thought
again annoyed. She erased her words again and began writing. "Christmas is just a
lovable, beautiful and best holiday because it has such..."no she thought and
began to crumble up her paper.
Alice spent most of her time crumbling up her papers trying to make at
least one sentence. I'm killing trees doing this she thought with a sigh as
she threw away another piece of paper. As the bell rang Alice smiled with a sigh of
relief. Finally she thought as she started heading out. "Remember class, You
have till the end of Christmas break to hand in your assignment" Alice's teacher said
rushing to get out of the class herself. "Whatever" Alice mumbled as she left the
classroom. Through most of her classes, Alice kept thinking of her assignment.
What is there to love about Christmas for me she thought frustrated. All I
do is spend a holiday with people I don't even know and some I don't even like.
As lunch came, Alice began to write in her journal as she sat down.
Today I have an assignment she wrote down. It's about what I love about
Christmas and It's so hard. Even though it's so easy for other kids, It's as hard as
hell for me. Alice started to sigh and put down her journal. I'm too
frustrated to write anything she thought.
Soon dismissal began and Alice packed up her stuff, still frustrated.
7 hours gone by and I still can't think of anything she thought putting on
her coat. "This is why I hate the holidays" she said angrily heading out the school
door. And what's even worse is this weather she thought shivering in the
freezing air. I don't even know if I want to go to the place I call "home"
"I'm home" Alice mumbled as she entered her foster home. The sounds of
children screaming and fighting filled her ears as she put up her clothes. "Hey
Alice" a little girl by the age of 5 shouted to Alice as she ran to her. "Hey Mary"
Alice mumbled as took off her shoes. "Alice what do you want Santa to get you for
Christmas?" Mary asked happily buzzing around Alice. "Nothing" Alice replied simply
looking down. "Are you sure?" Mary asked worried. "I'm sure Mary" Alice replied with
a sigh. "Aw okay Alice. Just remember that if you change you mind you could put your
list right under the tree" Mary said pointing to the huge green Christmas tree
grinning. "Will do Mary" Alice said also looking at the tree. Mary smiled at Alice
and ran off giggling. "To be honest, I'd want to see my parents" she mumbled to
herself sadly as she looked at Mary run off.
"Nothing like a flock of kids to help you get into the Christmas spirit"
Alice mumbled annoyed watching a Christmas special in the living room. "Alice" a
little voice said as Alice felt a poke on her back. "Yes Mary?" Alice asked
frustrated by the loud noises. "Do you think Santa is going to come for Christmas"
Mary asked sadly. Alice was about to start screaming at Mary for asking her a stupid
question but when she turned around, she saw Mary begin to cry. "Aw it's okay Mary"
Alice said sympathetically comforting the little girl. " But what if he doesn't come
Alice?" Mary asked sadly. "He's going to Mary" Alice said smiling. "Are you sure
Alice?" Mary asked worried. "Don't worry he will" Alice said smiling. "Thanks" Mary
said wiping a tear from her face. "No problem" Alice said also wiping a tear from
Mary's face. "Now run off and go play" Alice said grinning at Mary. "okay!" Mary
chirped running off happily.
Cute kid Alice thought. Before Alice could sit down She was
hugged out of nowhere by
Mary. "I love you Alice" Mary said happily. Alice just stood there shocked for a
moment and just said, "Just go run along" Mary started skipping to the backyard
happily humming to "Jingle bells". I think I know what I want for Christmas
she thought to herself still smiling. "For Mary to have a good Christmas" she
Alice walked to her room and got out her notebook and began to start
writing her assignment. "The thing I love about Christmas is.... that I have good
people to spend it with" she wrote smiling.
