Sakura walked through the halls of the school, feeling more alone than ever.
Everywhere she went, someone snickered, or let out a full laugh. "They don't
understand," she thought. Even her friends had abandoned her, so she was alone,
in the hour she needed her friends most. Sakura sat down at her lunch table, and she
thought back, to that fateful night one year ago, when her whole world fell apart...
Sakura looked into her mailbox at school. There was an envelope in it, and she
saw an invitation to Sarie's birthday party. It was that night, and Sarie was her
friend. She had just moved from Japan to America, and was still a little stressed,
but she decided to go. Little did she know that that choice would change everything.
That night, Sakura was deciding what to wear. She decided upon her traditional
Japanese dress, only used for special occasions. In her home country, she always wore
it on birthdays. She got dressed in it, got in the car, and she drove off to the

friend, took one look at her dress, laughed, and slammed the door in her face. She
rung again, and Sarie answered the door and said, "Nobody who dresses like that for
parties is my friend. Now go away!" Then, she slammed the door once again. The next
day at school, everyone ignored her, or teased and bullied her. And it had been like
that ever since...
Sakura was ripped from her memory by the lunch bell. She sighed, and under her
breath, she muttered, "Will they ever understand?"
