~~Part One~~

Days passed and Bicc learned to walk around in the leaves near his mother. Thought he
was blissfully curious about the new environment around him, his mother continuously
had her mind packed to the limit with other things. She watched the surroundings of
the Patch (a little patch of leaves that they call home in the forest) for bigger
animals that might harm her Bicc. Every little noise, her ears were perked and she
was staring at the spot in question. Usually it turned out to be a friendly squirell,
stopping by to tell them hello. Or a finch landing to tell them news from above.
Eventually, Bicc's mother was exhausted from paranoia and the false hope that her
partner would come back and help her with food and water and everything that the
animals were helping her do, that she fell into a deep sleep. Of course, she didn't
pay the Ultimate Price, she was simply tired. But, with Bicc's mother sleeping, he
decided to sneak off the Patch. She wouldn't allow him to do so before but he didn't
know why, so his curiousity overruled his knowledge.
The tall bushes and grasses around him were so mysteriously wonderful that he kept
going. Every foot or so, he would see something knew. A new bug skitter across the
forest floor, a new plant that he would have to walk around or climb through. Oh, and
the sounds and smell were of nothing he had ever experience. There were so many
different languages that the animals around him used. He heard the birds using
beautiful music to speak to each other and he wondered why him mom never taught him
how to talk like that. He knew the language of his mother, the national language that
all animals know. But, he didn't know that there were species specific languages
being spoken around him. There were different smells for everything he passed as
well. He didn't know what they were but all of them intrigued the little fox.
He wondered far from the safety of the Patch, being moved by his young curiousity for
the world. Soon, the wonderful newness of the forest became overwhelming. There was
nothing familiar around him for comfort. His curiousity faded into fear as the
beautiful music turned into ominous noise. He started walking slowly, thinking about
stopping. He knew it was better to stop and wait for somebody to find him...but he
couldn't bring himself to do so. He was afraid of being found by the wrong someone.
So, he kept moving further and further into the forest. His beautiful blue eyes were
filled with fear as they shot around the tall trees around him. He soon found a small
hole in the trunk of a tree. One part of Bicc said that would be the perfect spot to
hide, but the other part of him said that there could be danger in the hole. He
ignored the latter and cautiously approaching the black hole. The closer he got, the
more he could see into the whole. Once he got close enough, he could see that the
hole was quite empty and there was no tunnel up the trunk of the tree. Simply a cave
at the base. He crawled inside and turned to face the opening. He backed up until his
back end was up against the back of the tree. he felt safer now with the blackness
hiding him with only one way to get him. He stayed in that tree trunk for hours on
end. The mysterious noises and smells never going away and he noticed that the forest
was slowly loosing its glow. which could only mean that the sun was leaving the sky.
