3 DAYS OF PURE PLEASURE -
Having not been to the show before, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. I was
intrigued to see first hand the diverse, enthusiastic and 'female friendly' crowd
that Erotica has the reputation of attracting. I wasn't disappointed, the huge
auditorium was full of people making the most of everything (and I mean everything)
The 4 daily Main Stage Shows drew a consistently large audience. Dita's
Performance was enchanting, transporting you back to the days of pure glamour and
decadence. Uber contortionists Becky & Donovan astounded many with their
balancing act whilst, (I've no idea how) somehow making it look easy.
Belladonna, Ella, keda and all the dancers made it a truly memorable show.
After a glass of bubbly in the Elite Box, I decided to go on a bit of a wander.
The stalls were buzzing, with people being fitted with corsets, trying on fetish
outfits, sky high stilettos, wigs, masks, lingerie. There were couples shopping for
toys and Erotic furniture, some planning next years' get away on a sexy adults-only
holiday. Because the exhibitors obviously enjoy it too, the atmosphere was really fun
and relaxed. Many I spoke to had been here at least once before, and were pleased
with the turn out (there was lots of talk of this year's Friday attendance being
healthier than previous years... must be alot of people throwing sickies...) with the
Saturday & Sunday packed as expected.
There was some sensational art, Katie Sarra painting live portraits, body casting
and painting. Repeat Exhibitors like Ray Leaning, Ken Clarke, John Tisbury and many
more. Ria from Rudie Red was a first time exhibitor in the Art Gallery and was
enjoying the experience. Her delicately sexy, striking paintings added a younger,
fresher element amongst the more established Erotic Artists.
Did you take the chance to learn some new tricks in one of the seminars? Indulge
in a Fantasy Boy Massage or Angels in Uniform Lapdance? A lot of you were upstairs
enjoying the free treats in the R18 CyberCafe, and those lucky ones with Elite
tickets were lapping up the Champagne in the VIP Box.
The majority of people seemed to be in couples (dispelling the singular 'dirty old
bloke' myth). Erotica's reputation for attracting a mainly female crowd probably
still holds true, though it didn't feel unbalanced; more like 50/50. The visitors
were extremely eclectic, from groups of twenty-something's right the way up to
couples in their 70's, and of all sorts of persuasions. It's good to know that
everybody is welcome, I felt completely comfortable being on my own.
Dressing for the event wasn't mandatory, but loads of you did, making for a visual
feast of leather, lace, rubber, feathers and pretty much any material you could sew
stretch and drape. This all added to a carnival atmosphere and overall feeling of
At the Scarlet Roar Bar, one of two outside the Clubzone, I spoke to one group of
guys (all in their early 20's) all looking rather pleased with themselves. One of
them, Sean, told me "I wasn't really up for coming, but my mate's work got him
the tickets and we thought it would be a laugh, we're not pervs...promise!" When
I asked if they'd been pleasantly surprised by anything they've seen, he said;
"Dita. She's pretty hot, and she stands out 'cause she's doing something a bit
different to the sort of girls you usually think of being strippers".
I stopped at a couple of the Wig Stands, seduced by the idea of becoming an
immediate blonde. Whilst trying on a few, I got chatting to Trish, who laughed
as she told me that "It's a once a year sexy-Bluewater. I get all my friends'
Christmas presents and have a great day out!"
The beauty of Erotica seems to be its non biased approach to all areas of the
Adult Industry, and grouping it all together means that people get the chance to be
inspired, aroused and enjoy themselves. It's a shame it's all over...Is Erotica 08
really one whole year away?
