OK, I know I haven't finished the other story, 'My Friend's Brother,' but I got this
idea from a war movie I watched a bit of and I really want to write it down. Here's a
little passage I'm going to give you as a gift. :D
He glanced around nervously, then put a quarter in the slot and dialed her number.
"Hello?" her voice crackled over the telephone line.
"Bella, is that you?" he asked hesitantly.
"Nicholas?" she sounded surprised.
"Yeah, it's me, baby."
"Oh, Nicholas! I was so worried! I haven't seen you in ages," she said excitedly.
"Um, yeah, hey, babe-I have to tell you some things," he sounded anxious. She paused
before replying, "Yes?" He again glanced around the dark streets; feeling revealed in
the clear glass of the telephone booth.
"I-well, I just wanted you to know that I may seem a criminal to some people, the
police." I cleared my throat. She was silent on the other end of the line.
"I haven't murdered anyone but I have killed some-people," I bit my lip, afraid of
what she was going to say.
"Okay, um," I could hear the sadness in her voice.
"I'm sorry, but you're the only one I can trust right now," I choked out.
"Okay, I understand. You can trust me." she paused before adding, "I love you."
click. She hung up. I hung up the phone and walked down the lonely, dark
