Laughing, gazing
at each other like
they see perfection there,
like they are full of
helium bliss
and floating away from
the rest of the world:
the burdened world,
stooped lower than
the hunch back
of Notre-Dame, encumbered
by loneliness
and depression, while they
are drawing
from private wells locked up
in each other's hearts.
Their laughing eyes seem
effortless and
they're frozen in elation
for eternity.
I love her and I'm so glad
for her joy but
they make me feel more
alone than ever
and I feel as if
everybody has somebody
and I don't
because I'm not enough....
