I watched Princess Mononoke again with a bunch of friends. Majorly good movie,
though one of my friends kept comparing the music to "shifting between Mulan and
Pocahontas stuff". xD Still hauntingly beautiful though. We call the elk steed
"Jerky", but goodness, he's adorable. >3<
Yes, it's a Studio Ghibli and a Miyazaki directed movie, meaning the same creators of
Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Grave of the Fireflies, and
Ponyo, which means it's amazing. PG-13 though; "HAHAHA, there goes his head". Yes, I
laughed at the gory parts even though I saw it before because it just seems so absurd
in a Studio Ghibli movie, but heck, it was sudden. Arrows of doom FTW.
It's also quite touching. Ashitaka and San don't go to outright romance, and that
makes it sweeter. No kisses; Sorry for those who like mushy bits.
No one is entirely evil, or good. Not the animal gods, not the humans- They're all
just beings in the end.
'Mononoke' means Vengeful Spirits, which is why San gets referred to as 'Princess
For those who are still not convinced to watch it:
THERE ARE GIANT WOLVES.
That is all.
