Another Poem- This time, it's my own poemCategory: (general)

The first poem I'm typing up that is original. Meaning I wrote it myself. So enjoy.

Isomnia by SilkySilhouette

When the Winter frost gathers up on my window
Leaving glistning little shards that sparkle when I open my eyes,
I clutch at the covers and pull them over my head
So I could sing muffled nonsense songs
And feel the suffocating warmth the covers provide.
Little angels wave and wink under my eyelids
So I wave and wink back
Just so they know
I'll be asleep tonight.
They fade into darkness, despite their glow
And I feel guilty for misleading them.
But sometimes, it doesn't end this way
Sometimes, I sit up and read until my eyes burn and it is dawn
Or write poetry that can't be seen because they are diseased by morbid and sinful
The paper crumples up in my fist and I give a tiny smile
Only because it frightens me when it's so dark and I can seem to see what I am doing
And sometimes I just lay down on my back and stare at the eternal ceiling that was
never there
Or flip through old photos,
But their faces were never there, and I give another tiny smile
Only because I remember them, but they just aren't there
And sometimes I wait until morn'
Because mother will be curious
And father will still not be there, as usual.

No, it doesn't rhyme. I think you discovered that when you finished reading it -__-'
Well, tell me what you think, duckies ^_^

Oh my word. And you tell ME I put Updike or Teasdale to shame? You,
my dear, have real, solid, glittering potentional of being a published
poet someday. Do not ever, and I mean this, doubt yourself! I'm not
sucking up; Trust me. xD

*stares at you (No, I'm not being rude XD)* Thank you so much ^_^ You
made me feel all special inside! I guess we are both great poets ^_^

I know that your stomach is full of marshmallows. You
know what? That doesn't sound like such a bad idea. I'm going to eat
some now! xD Hahaha. We share the poet blood.

*is wide-eyed* Marshmellows... my sugary guilt... Toss me one, will
ya? *puts hand in the air, waiting for the marshmellow* Yup, the blood
that contains poeticness...ness... I'm done now :D

*rubs marshmallow along hand, tosses quickly you* Savor it...after
all, you've waited 22 hours. =)
SilkySilhouette says:   24 April 2007   957271
*grabs it and shoves it into mouth* Thankies ^_^ *gets an idea* I'll
run down the deli and get a bag of marshmellows.
MoonlitTearsGabriella says:   25 April 2007   173578
You've got a deli nearby? The nearest deli to me is quite a while
away. I want your deli! xD My deli doesn't even sell marshmallows.
They do sell marshmallow pies, though.

Yupers. Just a street away. The deli owner, Antonio, let's me have
them for free ^_^ *hugs Antonio, who just randomly came up* Yummm,
marshmellow pies... wonder how that tastes...
MoonlitTearsGabriella says:   25 April 2007   659337
Mail me a bag, will you? Do they taste different there? I presume
they wouldn't...Antonio's in your house? O.o It tastes like
marshmallow inside some secret ingredient-filled pie. I try to get
some of the cooks there to tell me what the secret ingredient is, but
as the old cliche goes, "If I tell you, it wouldn't be a secret
anymore, now would it?" Hey, listen to this poem (it's by Sarah-I
don't remember her last name):

The house was rich in love,

in heaping bowls of ice cream at

seven in the morning, a mother protesting loudly,

in tummies full of lemon meringue and chocolate pie,

the goodies Grandma loved to make,

in touching the lowest branches of the tall oak tree

as Grandpa pushed the swing "Higher!" still.

It was built on my memories,

memories of running across the bridge that

led to the pool, daringly barefoot,

memories of the sharks, circling in the deep end

of the pool, waiting to bite my toes,

memories of going in, all dripping and wet, to the house,

for a big bowl of ice cream that would give me strength.

All I can do now is remember,

remember playing "pool" with my brother in the

basement and not having the slightest idea what pool was,

remember climbing on the exercise bike in Grandma's

room and going as fast as I could,

remember sitting at the piano composing songs

for hours, just to hear Grandma say, "Great song!"

I have some reminders left over,

the crystal, the china figurines, the old family

photos, a scarf of black lace, an opal necklace,

all of our old costume jewelry, some perfume and some hats.

The house is gone now.

The trees, the wild strawberries, the creek with the bridge,

the pool with the sharks, they are gone.

They all belong to someone else,

    Alfie lives with Aunt Jeanette.

    Grandpa is at Aunt Nancy's.

No more do they reside in the magic of the

Grandma's house of old.

It is no more ours,

but a place on a map, belonging to another family,

the house my Grandpa built,

    the house Grandma made home.

All I can do now is remember,

and, Grandma, if you can hear me,

I promise I'll never forget the story of Grandma's House.

The poem is great ^_^ Thankies for posting it up here. *stuffs a bag
of marshmellows in a cardboard box, tips the deliverer, and it ships
off to you* O.O Antonio! How'd you get in here?! I must try the pie
MoonlitTearsGabriella says:   26 April 2007   691152
*eats marshmallows straight out of the box* Mmm,
marshmallow-in-a-boxy. ^_^ Antonio helped pack the marshmallows. He's
handy like that. xD
EmeraldRubySaphire says:   1 May 2007   845225
XD Very handy, that man is. O.O Hey, Antonio, got anymore
marshmellows? *Antonio's eyes widen and her runs off* Hey... Hey! Get
back here, Antonio! Or I'll tell your father, Mario! I actually have
no idea what his father's name is. I just chose an Italian name XD.
EmeraldRubySaphire says:   1 May 2007   879789
*scatches head* Hehe, you're probably wondering who I am... *shifts
SilkySilhouette says:   1 May 2007   222265
Are you talking to me or Gaby? Well, I guess you're talking to her,
because I already know you, unfortunatly. And leave Antonio out of
this, Mia! you don't love him like I do! XD.
EmeraldRubySaphire says:   1 May 2007   538315
Shut it, child! Antonio gets annoyed by the both of us! And I am also
unfortunate to know you, much less have you as my cousin.

*Huffs* You and your attitude!
SilkySilhouette says:   1 May 2007   889878
You and your HAIR WEAVE.
EmeraldRubySaphire says:   1 May 2007   293774

Oh yeah? Darling, there's a new thing called the SUN. I suggest you
lie in it for a while!
SilkySilhouette says:   1 May 2007   382782
And you think YOU have a tan? Yeah, a spray one!
EmeraldRubySaphire says:   1 May 2007   189426
Well at least I have curves! You're flatter than a board! And at
least my bones don't stick out of my skin!
SilkySilhouette says :   1 May 2007   312864
Shut up! Get off my comments board!
