The couple grinned to eachother as the clockwork angel was placed on top of the
tree, and Kari skipped over to hug Val, "She's going to hate us so much..."
"Not if she thinks it was Thomas."
The reply was unexpected and said in such a matter-of-fact tone, Kari simply burst
out into laughter, followed swiftly by Val, "What?"
"You! I never thought you could be so cruel!"
"This isn't cruel! No... This... This is- I don't have a good answer..." Val
chuckled, pecking her forehead as the two of them scoped Skye's office.
In every reachable corner of the room, there was tinsel or some other form of garland
or glitter, and in the centre, there was the biggest tree that Thomas could lift ito
the room, expertly decorated by Kari and Val after Thomas had run for fear of being
discovered. They had smothered it with baby pink tinsel, and lights that sang tinny
Christmas tunes, and topped it with a metallic angel that they both thought was a
'nice' touch, if such a tree could be called nice.
"What time's she due back?"
Val looked at his watch, "Oh no... Um... Bad news-"
"We'll hide in the cupboard." Kari finished, laughing and pulling Val by the hand to
the store cupboard. He opened the door and ducked inside, hugging Kari as she stood
in front of him and closed the door behind them, both holding their breath and biting
lips to stop from laughing.
After five minutes of silent agony, they heard the door click open, and waited for
inevitable scream of "THOMAS!" which followed after a second of what they could only
assume was stunned silence. Val reached up to hold a hand over Kari's mouth, as he
could feel her shaking with silent laughter, and it wouldn't be long until they
The cupboard let out a condemning giggle, and Skye stormed over, swinging open the
door and jumping backwards as the couple staggered out, both in hysterics, "YOU?!"
She asked in disbelief, "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY OFFICE?!" She yelled, although
unable to hide a grin. As much of an annoyance as this was, even she couldn't deny
its hilarity. She gave Kari a half-hearted punch on the shoulder before she was
enveloped in a hug,
"Merry Christmas, Scrooge!" Her best friend laughed, "Do you like it?"
"NO! I hate you both!"
"Come now, Skye, that's not in the Christmas spirit!" Val protested, leaning against
a wall to calm himself down (even though his boss was still rather red).
"I don't care, you git!"
"That's my boyfriend you're insulting, Skye!" Kari laughed, "Anyway, Thomas provided
"Don' bring me inter this." He was leaning against the doorframe with a grin
plastered on his face, "I like what ye did wit' the place, Skye!" He sauntered in,
planting a kiss on her cheek.
"Thomas, I hate you."
He shrugged, "I had noticed. But promise me som'in', Skye?"
She raised an eyebrow, "Yes?"
"Come home fer Christmas! Yer not ruddy workin'!"
She was fixed with an icy glare from all three vandals.
"You're not working."
YES, MORE CHRISTMAS FICS TO COME.
