It was ten o' clock at night when Viktor honked his car horn. I put my Doc
Martens on then walked out to his car and got in the passenger seat. He started to
drive down Nuberry St. and took a left turn down another street. The street lead to
the lake which me, Viktor, and Miska always go to hang out.
I turned around to look in the backseat and saw Miska staring out the window, he
seemed abstracted. I turned back around and looked out the window, staring at the
trees. Viktor drove up a little narrow road then drove down a road that twisted and
had sharp corners. We had finally reached the lake and he parked right between two
Miska was the first to get out then Viktor got out of the car and leaned against the
hood, taking out a pack of cigarettes. I got out while watching Miska lean against
Viktor's body; I stood next to Viktor looking at the moonlit lake.
"What happened to your face?" Viktor asked, lighting a cigarette.
"Hope scratched me after I cut off her tit." I told him, still looking at the lake.
He puffed on the cigarette as he touched my scratches like he was gonna heal them. I
moved his hand whilst glaring at him.
"Don't fuckin' touch me." I growled.
"Chill, Ruben." Miska said warmly.
"And don't call me by my real name." I snapped.
Viktor whispered something in Miska's ear and he walked out to the lake then sat at
the edge. Viktor puffed on his cigarette then looked at the lake.
"We need to quit killing." He said, smoke coming out of his mouth.
"Hah. Thats funny, killing is like drugs." I scoffed, watching Miska.
"Explain then." He retorted.
"We're serial killers. Our killings is the marijuanna and we smoke it everyday." I
"Nice saying, Beast. I'm glad you know English." He chuckled.
I playfully punched him on the arm while he put his cigarette out. He exhaled the
last of the smoke as he looked up at the moon.
"We better get going. Lets go Miska." He said, getting into the car and starting it
Miska ran to the car and sat in the passenger seat. I got in the backseat then Viktor
drove off. The ride home seemed so long and quiet.
Right before Viktor pulled up into my drive way, I inhaled the smell of cigarettes
and cologne that was filling up the car. I got out of the car and he drove away. I
trudged up to my house, unlocking the door and walked inside. I locked the door then
went straight to my room; I kicked off my boots and flopped onto the bed. I looked at
Ophelia who was sleeping and pulled her closer to me. I kissed her forehead then fell
into a deep slumber.
