"I'm sorry, Stan..."
They were breaking up. Again.
Everyone who knew about their relationship had completely lost faith in them.
But Stan. Stan still had faith. He never lost faith.
He gripped Wendy's shoulders.
"Wendy, please! Don't do this to me," he begged.
"I don't think it's ever going to work out, Stan!" Wendy protested. "We're not happy
with each other, and we know it! Everyone knows it!"
"It's only..not working out..because you..don't...BELIEVE IT WILL!"
Wendy stared at Stan in shock. She bit her bottom lip.
She broke free of Stan's grip and started to walk away. But then she turned back.
"I hope you find someone," she said quietly.
"I already found her," replied Stan.
Wendy's vision became blurry as tears filled her eyes. But she couldn't let Stan see.
She turned away and continued walking away.
"Fine, Wendy. Fine! But when you find someone, and then you find out you're unhappy,
realize that you made the biggest mistake of your life!" yelled Stan.
Wendy stopped, and an unknown anger bubbled inside her.
"Stop it, Stan!" she said, trying to keep her voice from breaking. "I don't like you
anymore! I don't! We've broken up about a million times! Don't you think that
means something?! What do you think that means?!"
"It means.." said Stan, scowling, trying to think of the answer. "I think it
means..that all relationships have their ups and downs! Their is no such thing as a
perfect relationship. No. Such. Thing! This can work out, Wendy, it can!"
He ran up to Wendy. She turned around and looked at him square in the eyes.
"Stan..," she whispered, and she started crying. She rested her forehead on Stan's
"It can, Wendy," he whispered. "I've never lost faith."
