Ello there. I wrote this at 4 am, so please no harsh crits. Otherwise, I am open to
suggestions.
“Athea, wait, where are you going?” Chase asked as he watched his roommate pace
the room furiously, checking under various stacks of books for a lost object. He set
his book down and stood up slowly.
‘Grown up, she just turned sixteen, stuck in the moment, dead at the scene, and
it’s on tonight. This is the life that you wanted, right? So turn off all the

“Athea, wait, where are you going?” Chase asked as he watched his roommate pace
the room furiously, checking under various stacks of books for a lost object. He set
his book down and stood up slowly.
‘Grown up, she just turned sixteen, stuck in the moment, dead at the scene, and
it’s on tonight. This is the life that you wanted, right? So turn off all the
lights.’
“I met this guy at the library today and he was so sweet to me. I’m going over
to a party at his house tonight.” Athea said happily, a dreamy look in her eyes.
She sighed softly and pulled a piece of paper out of a stack of magazines. “Ah, I
finally found it.” She whispered and moved over to the kitchen counter. She was
dressed in a simple outfit; a colorful t-shirt and a pair of skinny jeans. She wore
black boots and a black headband in her curly blonde hair.
‘Dressed up like a movie star, at all the parties, they’ll know who you are.’
Chase sighed and looked at his roommate silently. He felt a twinge of jealousy in
the pit of his stomach, but he pushed it off and walked over to her side. He watched
as she wrote an address on a note card and shoved it into her back pocket.
“I’ll probably be back later on tonight, but I’m not entirely sure.” Athea
said and spun around. She jumped when she realized how close he was to her; she
fixed this by backing up slowly towards the door. “Don’t worry about me though,
I’ll be fine.”
Chase frowned and sat down on the couch. It was as if he girl could read his mind
sometimes, not that it was always a good thing. “Alright, please be careful still.
Text me if you need me.” He said softly and turned on the television. He hid his
face as she studied him carefully. Athea nodded and walked out the door quickly.
The television flickered to life in front of him and played an old sappy movie from
the year he was born. Chase watched the program with a sudden interest that
surprised him. Normally, he would have made a face and changed the channel to
something more manly. Having a female roommate must have changed something within
him. As Chase watched, he opened and closed his phone absentmindedly. It was amazing
how he hadn’t confessed to her yet.
Two hours later. . .
Athea took a shaky breath in and followed Noah into an empty bedroom. She had spent
a lot of time talking to him at the party and she felt as if they were hitting it
off great. He then suggested that they went up into a room to talk in a quieter
environment. He gave her a beer and led her upstairs quickly.
Athea gasped softly at the room. It was dark, but Noah had lit candles in the room
to cast a warm glow. Her shadow stretched to the ceiling at he led her to a soft bed
in the corner of the room. She set her hands on her lap and looked out the window as
she searched for something to say.
‘Step in and you can lock the door. The candles are lit and the clothes on the
floor.’
Noah’s hand crept across the bed sheet and rested atop Athea’s, causing her face
to flush. She opened her mouth to say something but was cut off when he leaned over
and kissed her, effectively silencing her. She was suddenly on her back, her arms
pinned at her side. It was then that she noticed the evil glint in his eye,
something that she had not noticed earlier. Her eyes stung sharply as she began to
realize what might happen.
‘You could take a chance on finding romance. Now you’re holding hands, but
he’s got other plans. Tick-tock, the clock is turning red. The room won’t stop
spinning and thoughts in your head. And it’s too late, you feel like you’re
making a big mistake.’
Athea pushed him off sharply, remembering what Chase said to her before she left.
“I need to use the bathroom.” She said simply, jumping up quickly and heading to
the bathroom. Once she was inside, she shut the door and leaned up against it. She
pulled out her cell phone and typed out a message with shaky hands.
‘You should’ve waited.’
Chase awoke with a start and looked down at his hand. His phone was vibrating and
showing a picture of Athea’s smiling face. Chase’s stomach dropped as he sat up
and opened his phone.
‘Help me. I’m upstairs now. Hurry up, the address is on the counter. Please.’
Chase jumped up and snatched the address off of the counter. He slipped his shoes on
and ran out the door.
‘Don’t it feel like something’s not right in his kiss tonight?’
Athea’s stomach did a flip when she heard pounding on the bathroom door. Noah was
on the other side, his hand moving towards the handle slowly. He opened the door and
Athea stumbled backwards. Noah caught her and brought her over to the bed. He pinned
her to the sheets and lowered his head.
“I don’t want you making a noise. It’ll hurt a lot more otherwise.” He
hissed, taking his shirt off and tossing it aside carelessly. Athea screamed, but
she was quickly silenced with another kiss.
Chase stopped to catch his breath as he looked around. Snow fell on the ground
around him, making him shiver. The house was just ahead, a few minutes away. ‘Hang
in there Athea.’
Noah grabbed Athea’s wrists and pinned them by her head. Tears streamed down her
cheeks as he stared into her eyes. She was starting to get tired from kicking and
struggling. She whimpered softly and kicked at Noah again. He smirked and pulled her
shoes of swiftly. Next was her shirt, which was thrown aside quickly. It hit her beer
cup and knocked it over, drenching the shirt quickly. Athea began to sob as he slid
her pants off slowly, grinning devilishly as he did so. She was soon laying on the
bed in only a tank top and her underwear.
Chase threw open the door and slid through the crowd and made it to the stairs. He
sprinted up, taking two steps at a time. The hallway was significantly quieter than
it was downstairs, which made his job much easier. He walked down the hall, opening
doors whenever he heard a sound behind them. He froze when he reached the last door
on the right. He heard a faint sobbing noise that sounded like Athea.
Fueled by anger alone, he threw open the door and stopped in his tracks. Noah was
sitting on top of Athea, who was sobbing and pushing away at him feebly. Chase
walked in and grabbed Noah by the shoulders. He knocked him off of Athea and punched
him hard in the jaw. Noah yelped in surprise, but got up and landed a few good blows
on Chase. The two wrestled around for a few minutes while Athea squeezed her eyes
shut and curled up in a ball.
Chase stood up slowly and eyed Noah briefly. He was doubled up on the floor moaning
in pain. Athea sat up slowly and tried to smile when she saw Chase. She stood up and
threw her arms around his neck and began to sob. “Thank you, oh thank you.” She
murmured over and over. Chase wrapped his arms around her and closed his eyes. He
was shaking with relief.
Athea pulled away, shaking in fear and cold. She scooped up her pants and quickly
slid them on. She went for her shirt, but stopped when she smelled the beer. She
sighed and sat on the bed. Chase pulled his hoodie off and handed it to her,
ignoring the chilly air. She took it gratefully and slid it on.
Chase led Athea out of the house without another word. Once he was outside, he
froze. “You walked didn’t you.” He mumbled, turning to face Athea. She nodded
and started down the driveway carefully. She slipped on the icy surface and fell,
landing hard on her ankle. She yelped in pain and tried to stand up. She would have
fallen if Chase wasn’t there to support her.
“Here, get on my back, I’ll carry you home.” He said, bending over to help her
get on. She wrapped her arms around his neck gingerly and rested her head against the
side of his neck. Chase started off down the street slowly, enjoying the warmth of
the girl on his back. “He Athea, can I ask you something?” He asked softly, his
eyes fixed on the ground in front of him.
“Yeah, what is it?” Athea mumbled sleepily, lifting her head briefly.
“Did . . . did anything happen back at the party? I mean, are you okay now?” He
asked, taking a deep breath in.
“No, nothing happened. It almost did, but you saved me.” She whispered and
tightened her grip.
Chase sighed softly and smiled half heartedly. “Good. Athea, I need to get
something off of my chest.” He said suddenly. His heart was beating wildly in his
chest as his confession drew nearer. He opened the door and stepped inside. He
walked over to the couch and stood there with Athea on his back.
“Shoot.” Athea murmured softly in his ear, causing him to shiver.
“I love you. I’ve loved you for so long, but you looked so happy when you talked
about the guys you met. I didn’t want to ruin that for you.” He whispered, tears
running down his cheeks.
Athea was silent as she carefully climbed off of his back. When she was safely on
the ground, she turned Chase around and looked straight into his eyes. She wiped
away his tears gingerly and bit her lip. “All of that was to make you jealous.
Chase, don’t you get it? I love you too.” She murmured the last four words as
she leaned up slowly. She kissed him softly before sitting on the couch to give her
foot a rest. Chase sat beside her and took her hand in his. He turned on the
television to the same movie he was watching earlier.
Athea rested her head on his shoulder and gave his hand a light squeeze before
closing her eyes and falling asleep. Chase smiled to himself and closed one eye. The
movie played on to his favorite scene. The man had turned to face the woman.
“Where are we heading to?” The woman asked as she placed her hand atop his.
“With you, I could go anywhere, even if our destination was hell.” The man said
with a smile on his face.
“Oh, Clint.” The woman whispered and kissed him.
Chase smiled to himself and kissed the top of Athea’s head before falling asleep
beside her.
Oh, I will write a short fanfic for whoever guesses what anime this movie scene is
from. ;D
