~~Eddie suggested I repost this onto a general page so everyone can read it.~~
Hello guys. I'm sure you've all noticed that Kupika's gotten to be very slow recently at
certain times of the day. A simple but costly way of stopping this would be for Hina to
get better hosting. But as I'm sure you'll all want to save him extra expense, here are
some ways I've thought of to make Kupika a bit faster.
1)**DON'T POST/SEND CHAIN LETTERS**
I believe this is the number-one, most wonderful thing you can do to make Kupika run
faster for everyone. Chain letters do NOT work, and the only thing they are good at is
wasting space and making Kupika slower overall. You might not think it would make a
difference, but if we had about 50% reduction in the amount of chain letters sent, I
think we might make a noticeable impact to the speed of Kupika.
2) Only draw oekakis that have a purpose
Oekakis are great, and I would never tell people to stop drawing all oekakis. But some of
the oekakis I have seen are pointless. I am not saying if an oekaki is not "good", you
should delete it. I'm talking about oekakis that are a plain background with a word
written on them. Things like that. Please consider whether an oekaki is actually
neccessary. If it's not, you'll just be wasting your kupipoints and contributing to
Kupika slowing down.
3) Don't make individual pages for everything
Sometimes, rather than making a new kupipage for every photo/comment/whatever, you could
make one page and put everything on there. Maybe it would'nt make a huge impact, but
every little helps.
4) Try to keep on one account ~ (idea from ss4Gogeta) and ~ delete accounts you're not using
(idea from o_oyazmina_oo_)
I can understand people making multiple accounts because they have run out of oekaki space which they have put to good
use, or they are being annoyed on a particular account. But I have seen some cases where people have made 2, 3, 4 or
even 5 different accounts, just because they become 'bored' of the old one. If you keep to one account, not only are
you saving space, but you're also giving yourself a better chance of being known and remembered by people. You want
your friends to be able to find you!
5) Don't open multiple tabs of Kupika
This is just to make your own personal Kupika browsing faster: sometimes, I have 3 or even 4 Kupika tabs open at the
same time, usually while I'm drawing an oekaki. It's faster if you only have 1 or 2 tabs open at the same time. I find
that things load faster, in Firefox at least.
I would love to hear your ideas on how we can make Kupika faster! ^__^
