I hope you like this part!!!
“Where are we? How do you know Marshall? Who were those guys? How come everyone wants to know what my dad
does as a job? Is Emma and Carmen okay?” I asked. I would have asked more questions, but then Marshall came in. I was
so gad to see him I almost jumped on him until I saw his face. He looked really mad.
“Eva how could you?” he yelled. I was confused. What did I do wrong? He took a deep breath. “Max, could you tell
her the number one rule on being a spy?”
“Anything weird, different, or strange in your plan,” said Max. I heard those words before…at the first
day…sitting there at the big desk…starring at a lot of people wearing suites…all of them wearing name tags.
“Tell us,” I heard myself say those words. Marshall sighed and took another deep breath.
“Eva, why didn’t you tell us about those guys?” said Marshall.
“When was I suppose to? I had a date I had to attend to. Also, I had to act like I really wanted to go, so I
wouldn’t hurt his feelings!” I yelled.
“You didn’t tell her did you?” asked Marshall to Max.
“No,” mumbled Max. Marshall sighed again. I was very confused.
“Tell me what?” I asked.
“Do you want to tell her or me?” asked Marshall turning to Max. Max took a deep breath.
“I’ll tell her, but could you give us some privacy?” Max asked.
“Sure,” said Marshall. He walked out the door. Max waited until the door was closed before speaking.
“Eva before I tell you this I want to say that I wanted to tell you before, but could find the time to,” Max said
in a very calm quiet voice. He took a deep breath. “I’ll start at the beginning. When I was five my parents died or
went missing on a mission.”
“They were spies?” I asked.
“Yep…anyways, they started to train me as a spy. By the time I was ten I was one of the best kid spies. The only
person that beat me was your brother, James.” My ears perked up as if I was a dog.
“My brother was a spy?”
“Yep. We became friends. Yet, your brother quit. I wanted to but I could, because then I have to go into foster care.
Anyways, I stayed as a spy and I got a call one day during summer the summer that just passed.” Max took a deep
breath. I could blame him. This is news I never thought of. “The call was about your dad. It said that he might be
selling something illegally. They wanted James on the case, but he said no. Yet, he suggested you. We talked about it
and finally we said yet even though it was very risky. They were going to pick you up at your house and tae you to the
camp where most spies start out.” Max looked down at the floor.
“Max, really I think you explained enough,” I said.
“No, I haven’t told you anything!” yelled Max.
“Well then…keep going,” I said. I couldn’t believe I just said those words.
“They couldn’t find you. Finally, they called me. They said I had to work for your parents. One part was finding
out where you were, and find out about your dad. Of course they didn’t talk very much and I didn’t find anything.
Finally, they laid me off, because it was only a summer job. I went back to school. You returned home and went back to
school. Marshall found out that you were going to school at The Warrior Princess School for Females. I was going to the
boy’s school. They didn’t know what to do and neither did I. So I made friends with The Rich Girls. They were going
to have party, but their parents were home. Then Paige had an idea of going to your house, because she heard your
parents won’t be home. When I heard that I decided to go even though I am not the partying guy.” Max took a deep
breath. I just starred at him. “I think you know the rest of the story,” Max said still to the floor. I sighed.
“James is in so much trouble when I talk to him about this,” I said. I hoped that would make Max smile or at least
look up at me. It didn’t. “Max, it’s okay. Really…you did the right thing.” I smiled. I knew he could see it,
but I still did it.
“But you almost got killed! I should have called Marshall about this! Yet, I was too worried about you finding
out…” he said and stopped. I sighed. This was going to be a lot harder than I thought. Marshall saved me though. He
came into the room.
“Eva, we need you more than ever right now,” said Marshall. “You still have a lot of training to do, but…we
have to send you on this mission. Max will be going, too. Well, I should say he will be there, too.” I was confused.
“Your dad is hosting a ball at your house,” said Max. “We need to find out what he is doing.”
“OMG! Do you mean The Holiday Ball? When the WHOLE neighborhood comes, and dances?” I asked.
“Yes,” mumbled Marshall.
“No way! I can’t do it. My friends will be there and James! James will be there! And did I mention the WHOLE
neighborhood is going to be there?”
“Eva, it will help out to find what your dad does,” said Max.
“But I have to act like a spy! My friends will notice, too!” I yelled. I totally didn’t want to do this.
“It’s a few months away,” said Marshall, “so we will see what we have to do. Until then Eva we have a lot of
work to do. Max you keep an eye on her, and tell use EVERYTHING. Got it?” I nodded my head. Max looked at me and then
to Marshall and nodded his head. “Okay, now Eva tell us what happened.” I told Marshall what happened from what I
knew or what I saw is what Marshall called it. Then he turned to Max. “Max it’s your turn,” said Marshall.
“Oh, crap! What time is it?” I asked.
“Little bit passed midnight. Why?” said Marshall.
“I have to get home now. My curfew is midnight,” I replied.
“You are sleeping over at Emma’s,” said Marshall.
“Oh, well in that case I can stay now,” I said, but I didn’t want to say. I wanted to go home, and hug my mom and
dad. I wanted to tell my friends this crazy dream. Only it wasn’t a dream. It was real. This is my life now. I
didn’t’ chose it, but it sure did chose me.
“Well, where should I start?” asked Max.
“Right when you left for school or no you getting ready for school,” said Marshall.
