::Welcome to the Artist of the Month Page::
By KusuKusu

Sketch")
This page showcases the best of the best an new and upcoming
doodlers on our very own Kupika!
Many artist go unrecognized for their talents, and mere doodles
can be quite eye-catching!
This month we take a look at the unique and consistently original
and imaginative artwork of...KokiriForest!
We've asked Kokiri a series of questions to see what makes her
tick. So, without further ado...
_
Are you willing to say art is your life?
-My life? Naw. I'm willing to make a living off of it and it's already a huge
part
of my life now, but I've got other stuff in my life and I'm careful not to make one
thing too big in my life. balance is good. But I would say that besides my friends
it's probably the biggest thing I've got in my life. C:
::Balance is good.::
So how long do you think you've been
drawing?
-I've been drawing seriously with a career as an artist in mind since the middle
of
fifth grade, so about two years? I've liked drawing and such for years before that
but I never took it seriously until later on.
Silly question but, do you remember the first drawing on
oekaki you ever drew. AND I MEAN EVER.
-OH MAN, IDEK. I've been on Kupika since early fifth grade (Fifth grade was a
busy
year for me :B) and I deleted all my old accounts before xcowxkissesx, but some of
my really early drawings should be on there.
Many artists, even the great ones, block often, is it the same
for you sometimes?
-OH JEEZ, YES. I don't get them as often as some other people, but when I do, oh
jeez they're BAD. They're more like art WITHDRAWLS. Like, I have ideas for art and
stuff but I can't bring myself to draw anything. xD I don't get em as often as I did
last year though, thank god.
::WITHDRAWLS.::
Has a complete stranger ever complimented you on your
artwork?
-YES. OH GOD. xD It's really really awkward when they do. Like, I'll get bored and
take out my sketchbook and I'll get these random people looking over my shoulder
commenting on it. It's so weird.
Are there any improvements on the Oekaki program here on
Kupika you'd like to see? (Erasers, more textures, etc.)
-YESSSSSSSS. Well, I'm pretty much cool with the oekaki program itself, besides the
fact that I'd like the lines to be smoother and the quality of the final submitted
product to be better. But what I'd REALLY like for the program, is a separate board
for text-based stuff. Like those little scribbles you see on the board, I hate those
D: And the people who make them always seem to think of them as good, so they just
need a place to belong where they won't spam other stuff off.
Finally, any advice for to aspiring artists in
general?
-DRAW A LOT. >:I I don't care if it's good or not, DRAW LIKE YOU'RE PABLO PICASSO ON
SPEED. YOU. WILL. GET. BETTER. No matter what. No one's born with talent, no matter
how much people like to believe so.
Be open minded. Look at other people's art. See something you like about it? Work it
into your style. Do that with other different styles and throw it all together and
play with it until you get your own. Don't copy though. Being inspired and copying
are two totally different things.
And be attentive and stuff. Always look for new ideas :> If you find something that
you're good at drawing, draw it. If you find a situation that helps you draw best,
draw like that, then branch out.
