My name is Darien 
But I also have another identity no one knows of

I hate waking up from sleep,
Because every time I do
A dream escapes me
A dream of waking up to my beloved

I am currently 20 years old and in college

Someone once said, “I feel lonelier when I am surrounded by
people.”

I am surrounded by people,
Yet I am alone in this world

This part of me has yet to change,
And with each year that passes me,
What tiny amount of hope I have diminishes…

I am strong yet weak
I am courageous yet a coward to myself
With each day I learn more of who I am 
yet I truly know nothing about myself

I have plans for life,
Yet I don’t how to live them

I could live my life alone surrounded by nature
As an average worker 
As a respected doctor
Or I could just dream it all away

I have had many dreams
Which, no matter what I do I cannot forget

There is a dream that I like to dream of more than anything else,
Yet causes me more anguish than even the scariest of nightmares
That is a dream where I meet her

I truly believe that once I meet her in life 
All uncertainties I have will disappear

This is the small chance, the hope that I grasp tightly,
No matter how small it may get over the years,

This hope of meeting my princess...

...but I am not ready yet and so 
I will become the person I see myself as in my dreams
even if I end up dying alone 
while trying to reach for that which I most desire...
