The jagged rough edges cut her knees as she kneels beside them. Together, they make a magnificent shape. Alas grey and broken like this, they look like trash, scattered, left, abandoned by all love. She pieces them together silently. Slowly. A shape forms, a heart. Her heart. It’s frozen, lifeless. She stares, and stares… and stares. What else can she do? It has been tossed, thrown and smashed so much. She knows it’s beyond repair. The pieces, fine and barely noticeable alone. She stands up, and leaves it there. Leaves it waiting for someone to step on it once more. To cause her more pain, more horror. The heart, unbeating and tattered. It is impossible for someone to love anymore, impossible to feel warmth again. Impossible to remain strong., and to flutter at the touch of a loved one again. Someone walks in to the room, spotting the heart. They kneel beside it, and gently run their fingers over it. The edges prick them softly. Blood, it trickles from their finger, and onto the heart. The rigged broken pieces, they slowly pull together again. It’s color returns at it beats once more. The lub-dub, soft and more soothing with every beat. They pick it up softly, and inspect it. A fragile heart, one that at any given time, can break. They carry it with them, watching it closely. They erase the pain, and breakings. All the horrors, all for the times when it’s keeper felt no one was there. Gone. The beat becomes steady, as the heart is healed. They leave it in the room, it was not theirs to take. Hoping that it’s owner would claim it once more, and forget all of the excruciating moments. Other~
